II. The Commission

A garment,
cut for one body

Begin a commission and we will guide you through the four steps of making. Production takes six weeks from the day your measurements arrive at the loom. We hold nothing in stock — what we make is what you have asked for.

I.

Pure mulberry silk, handwoven linen, wild tussar — woven for us alone.

II.

Select a silhouette

Thirty house patterns. Each may be adjusted to the inch.

III.

Specify your dye

Twenty-two natural dyes. Madder, indigo, catechu, lac, pomegranate.

IV.

The Dye Library

Our entire palette is drawn from the earth. Roots, fruits, leaves, gall — boiled slowly in copper vats, fixed with alum and iron. The colour you choose today will be the same colour, only a little quieter, fifty years from now.

The Materials

I. · lustrous

Pure Mulberry Silk

Triple-plied filament reeled from Bombyx mori cocoons in Karnataka. A high lustre, a soft weight in the hand, and a depth of colour that natural dyes settle into beautifully.

II. · breathable

Handwoven Linen

Long-staple flax, woven slowly on pit looms in Bengal. Each metre takes the better part of a morning to make. Wears in, never out — softens with every wash.

III. · earthen

Wild Tussar Silk

Tasar moths feeding on Arjun trees in Jharkhand. A natural ecru sheen, an irregular slubbed texture — the quiet alternative to mulberry, with all the warmth of a forest floor.

V. The Atelier

Quietly,
by hand,
in India.

Sūt was founded in 2026 in Melbourne, born of a quiet refusal — a belief that clothing should be made slowly, deliberately, and to last. In an age of disposable fashion, we choose the opposite: natural fibres, natural dyes, and garments made only when they are asked for.

Nothing is mass-produced, nothing is wasted. Each piece is cut to your measurements and made to be worn for years, not seasons — fashion as an act of care, for the wearer and the world alike.
